Spiritual Concert: Mississippi Concert Singers (University of Mississippi) Friday, May 26, 2023 at 4:15 pm

The Mississippi Concert Singers (University of Mississippi, USA) will perform at Chartres Cathedral during their European tour.

Their 10-day tour, which will run from May 17 to 27, 2023, will make several stops in Belgium and France. The singers will perform in several cathedrals in both countries, including Notre Dame Cathedral in Antwerp, Bayeux Cathedral, and Saint-Etienne-du-Mont Church in Paris. The Concert Singers will participate in worship services followed by concerts of sacred repertoire, and will also give other concerts.
They will also travel to Omaha Beach to offer a sung memorial at the American cemetery.

The Concert Singers are a 50-voice choir that rehearses four days a week and performs a variety of repertoire.
“This choir has toured nationally and internationally over the years, but because of the pandemic, it’s been several years since we’ve toured,” says Donald Trott, choir director. “The goal is to go on an international tour once every four years so that all the singers in the choir can have this culturally enriching experience at least once during their time in the choir.”

Works by Palestrina, Zingarelli, Matsushita, Antognini, Spirituals

Direction: Anthony Bernard, Dr. Donald TROTT
