ACCESSIBILITY

Royal Portal
There is an access ramp into the cathedral for visitors with reduced mobility, located at the entrance of the Royal Portal.
Those who wish to take a tour of the “ground floor” of the cathedral will find that it is entirely accessible by wheelchair, including the nave, transepts, side aisles and ambulatory.

GETTING TO THE CATHEDRAL

By Car...
By road:
- from Paris: the RN10 direction Rambouillet, via la Porte de Saint-Cloud.
- from other areas: the RN10 from Tours and the Southwest ; the RN23 from Brittany; the RN154 from Rouen, Évreux, Dreux or Orléans.
By motorway:
- from Paris: the A6 direction Bordeaux-Nantes via la porte d'Orléans, then the A10 and A11 direction Nantes.
- from Nantes, Angers or Le Mans: by the A11, exit (sortie) number 3, then direction Chartres centre.
- from Bordeaux: by the A10, exit (sortie) Allaines, the RN 154 direction Chartres, then Chartres centre.

From Paris-Montparnasse, Chartres is accessible every day from the capital by numerous trains which take about one hour each way.
Many daily trains make connections with Le Mans and Brittany.
By Tourist Bus...
Parking for tourist buses is located on rue Charles Brune, in front of the Conseil Général (about 300 m from the cathedral).
By Plane...
One of the oldest aviation fields in France brings you directly to Chartres:
