Concert by the Cabrillo Symphonic Chorus, Wednesday, June 26 at 3:00 pm

The Cabrillo Symphony Choir is associated with Cabrillo College in Aptos, California. Under the direction of Cheryl Anderson, the choir has toured the finest concert halls in the U.S. and Europe.
It was formed in 1961, when Cabrillo College opened its doors at Watsonville High School. Its first director was Ralph Kent, followed by Theodore Toews, Allen Illich, Gene Manners and Antony Antolini.

In its early years, the choir performed in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and on the East Coast of the United States.
In December 1988, under the direction of Tony Antonlini, the choir toured the Soviet Union, performing Sergei Rachmaninov’s Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom; on this occasion, San José’s public television station KTEH produced a documentary entitled “Rediscovering Rachmaninov”, which was broadcast worldwide.
Since autumn 1991, Cheryl Anderson has taken over the direction of the choir, bringing with her a radiant personality and a vast choral repertoire.

Works by J. des Prés, C. Goudimel, G.P. da Palestrina, W. Byrd, M.J. Trotta, Z.R. Stroope, C.A. Tindley, A. del Monte
